How to Make it a Mother’s Day to Remember This Year in Surrey
February 10th 2018
Spoiling our mums or mother figures on Mother’s Day is something many of us plan to do, but with such busy lives, how many of us end up just buying a quick bunch of flowers and a card and making do, rather than committing to something special?
Mother’s Day is the one day of the year when we can really treat the person who loves us, no matter what. So why not push the boat out and really show them how much you care this year?
There are lots of unique ideas you can make the most of in Surrey for Mother’s Day this year on Sunday 11th March, so why not give one of them a whirl? You’ll not only be spoiling your mum, but you’ll also have a lovely day out to boot. Here are our top picks, compiled just for you.
Treat Her to Tea
Of course, you could just take your mum out for a posh afternoon tea; that would be lovely. But if you’re looking to do something a little different, how about taking her to learn about all things tea at the National Trust’s Ham House? As well as the usual tea and sweet treats in the tearoom, Ham House is running a completely tea themed day.
With everything from a tea trail for all ages, specialist talks and, of course, tea tastings just the way the Duchess herself would have brewed them, if you’re looking for something different for your mum, this could be it. Young children won’t be left out either, as they will have the chance to make a teapot shaped card and listen to tea-themed stories.
Put a Spring in Her Step
For many mums, something a little lower key is just the ticket. A spring walk can be a beautiful event for Mother’s Day, especially as the days start to get a little warmer. Why not take her for a long walk and a natter amongst some spring blooms?
Some great places to see Surrey in bloom include RHS Wisley Gardens, the grounds of which transform into a carpet of crocus and daffodils. There’s also Guildford Castle, famous for its vivid tulips, and the 18th century landscaped gardens of Painshill. Pack a Prosecco picnic and you’ll be sure to put a spring in your mum’s step!
Take Her on a River Cruise
For something really different, how about a cruise on the Wey and Arun Canal? With special ‘Mothering Sunday Relaxers’ on offer, it’s a great way to let your mum have a sit down, unwind and catch up on all your news over coffee and pastries.
Make a Lunch Date
There are plenty of opportunities for a scrumptious lunch this Mother’s Day in Surrey. From Denbies Wine Estate offering brunch, through to lunch at the award winning Linden Restaurant at the Macdonald Frimley Hall Hotel in Camberley, there will be something to suit families young and grown up this Mother’s Day.
